Philips Hue Smart Plug, 2-Pack (Bluetooth and Zigbee)

A plug-in switch that turns a lamp, string lights or another plug-in light into part of a Philips Hue setup, controlled by Bluetooth or a Hue Bridge.

Quick verdict

Yes, if you use Philips Hue and want a lamp that can't take a Hue bulb to switch with the rest of your lights. The Hue Smart Plug works over Bluetooth from the app, or with a Hue Bridge for routines, voice control and remote access. It only switches on and off, so it won't dim a lamp, and it's for indoor use.

Best for:
Bringing a lamp into Hue.
Watch out:
On/off only; no dimming.

Our Take

The Smart Plug turns any lamp you plug into it into an on/off light in the Hue app. Signify says it works over Bluetooth without a bridge, and with a Hue Bridge it joins the Zigbee network, which adds routines, Hue accessories, voice control through Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Home, Matter through the bridge, and control away from home. It also repeats the Zigbee signal to other Hue lights. Signify lists 100–120 V, an IP20 indoor rating, a 2-year warranty and software support for at least 60 months. It switches power only, so a lamp stays at its own brightness. Without a bridge, Bluetooth control works only near the plug. We haven't tested it ourselves.

Why PriceDropIQ Selected It

Many homes with Hue bulbs have one lamp, a string of lights or a fixture that can't take a Hue bulb, and it stays out of every routine. This plug brings it into the Hue app, scenes and switches. It suits people already using Hue; if you don't, a cheaper Wi-Fi plug from another brand switches a lamp just as well.
