Privacy Policy
Last updated October 12, 2026
This page describes what PriceDropIQ actually collects today — not a generic template. There are no user accounts, no login, and no sign-in of any kind on the Site.
Optional measurement — only with your consent
PriceDropIQ uses two optional measurement tools: PostHog product analytics and Google Ads measurement, both described below. A banner asks you once. Neither tool is loaded until you choose “Allow”, and nothing you do before choosing is saved up and sent later. If you choose “Reject”, both stay off and the Site works exactly the same, including links to Amazon.
Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage. You can change it at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. Switching to “Reject” stops both tools, deletes their cookies and browser-storage entries on this Site (PostHog's ph_ entries, Google Ads' _gcl cookies, and our session attribution entry), keeps your “Reject” choice, and reloads the page. Data already sent before you withdrew is not recalled by this. If you chose “Allow” on our earlier banner, which covered Google Ads only, we ask again rather than assume you also agreed to PostHog.
Product analytics (PostHog)
PriceDropIQ uses PostHog, an analytics service, hosted in the EU, only if you choose “Allow”, to understand how the Site is used — for example, which deals are viewed, which categories are filtered, and whether "Check current offer on Amazon" links are clicked. This runs only in your browser; PriceDropIQ has no server that stores personal data.
Configured privacy limits on this analytics, as actually set in the code:
- No accounts and no sign-in, so no PostHog "identify" call is ever made — events are not linked to a real identity.
- Automatic click/input capture (autocapture) is off — only the specific events listed below are ever sent.
- Session recording, surveys, and feature flags are disabled.
- "Dead click" capture and performance / page-speed capture are explicitly disabled.
- Heatmap capture is disabled.
- Your browser's Do Not Track signal, if enabled, suppresses all analytics events.
- The newsletter-signup event described below is only sent if you chose “Allow”.
- The PostHog project is configured to discard the IP address associated with each event.
This does not mean zero data is collected. PostHog assigns a random, pseudonymous device identifier (not tied to your name, email, or any account) so that events from the same browser can be grouped together — for example, to tell that one visitor viewed three deals rather than three visitors viewing one each. This identifier is stored in your browser (see "Cookies and local storage" below). No name, email address, physical address, or phone number is ever collected or sent to PostHog.
The specific events PriceDropIQ sends are: a page view; a deal appearing on screen; a deal card being clicked; a "Check current offer on Amazon" link being clicked; a category filter or sort order being changed; the "Why this score" explanation being opened; a new email newsletter signup (see below); a site search (the search text and the number of results); and, if used, a Telegram-join or share action. Each event carries only product-level context relevant to that event (category, price, Deal Score, and similar) — never anything you typed, except the text of a site search, which is shortened to 60 characters and never sent if it looks like an email address or a long number.
Advertising measurement (Google Ads) — only with your consent
PriceDropIQ sometimes runs Google Ads. To learn whether those ads lead anywhere, the Site can load Google's ad measurement tag (Google tag, for our Google Ads account) — but only after you choose “Allow” in the cookie banner. Until you choose, and if you choose “Reject,” the Google tag is not loaded at all and no request is made to Google from our pages. Even with your consent, Google only links a visit or click to an ad if you arrived from one of our ads.
If you allow it, the Google tag:
- records page views on PriceDropIQ and clicks on our links to Amazon, so Google Ads can tell us how many visits to a page or clicks to Amazon followed a click on one of our ads;
- sets Google Ads cookies (names starting with
_gcl) on this Site to connect those visits and clicks to an earlier ad click; - is configured with ad personalization turned off. We don't send your name, email address, or any other information you typed, and we don't send purchase or order data — a click to Amazon is not a purchase, and we don't see what you buy there.
Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy. Changing or withdrawing your choice works as described under “Optional measurement” above.
Email newsletter
The newsletter form on the homepage asks for an email address to sign up for PriceDropIQ's newsletter. Storage is server-side only — the address is sent directly from your browser to our own server, never to PostHog or any other third party, and is stored in our database for the sole purpose of sending you that newsletter and letting you unsubscribe from it. Submitting the same address again while already subscribed does not create a second entry. We use a third-party email delivery provider to actually send messages, but that provider does not decide who is subscribed, does not hold your consent record, and could be replaced without affecting your subscription. Right after you sign up, we send one automatic confirmation email. Other newsletter sends are currently manual; every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link that requires no login and no typing your email address, and takes effect immediately.
If you chose “Allow”, PostHog records that a new signup happened (for internal metrics) — never the address itself, and never any other value you typed into the form. A repeat signup from an address that is already subscribed is not recorded as a separate signup.
Cookies and local storage
The browser storage actually used is:
- PostHog's own cookie and local storage — only if you choose “Allow”; holds the pseudonymous device identifier described above, for grouping analytics events from the same browser.
- A session-storage entry (cleared when you close the tab) — only if you choose “Allow”; records where you arrived from — a marketing source/campaign parameter or referring site, if any — so analytics events can be attributed to a channel.
- Your cookie choice — a local-storage entry recording whether you allowed or rejected optional measurement, so the banner doesn't ask again on every page.
- Google Ads cookies (
_gcl…) — only if you choose “Allow” (see “Advertising measurement” above).
None of this is used to personalize prices, restrict access, or build an advertising profile of you.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent any data.
- We don't run ad personalization or remarketing, and we don't show third-party ads on the Site. The only advertising tag is the consent-gated Google Ads measurement described above.
- We don't use session recording, heatmaps, or screen capture of any kind.
- We don't require or use accounts, so we hold no persistent profile tied to you.
Amazon links
Clicking "Check current offer on Amazon" takes you to Amazon.com, which has its own privacy practices, separate from PriceDropIQ's. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how those links work.
Changes to this policy
As PriceDropIQ adds features (such as automatic newsletter scheduling, or a second market), this page will be updated to reflect what is actually implemented at that time.
