Our Take

The 5200 is the blender Vitamix still calls one of its most popular designs, and its appeal is simplicity. You get a dial from 1 to 10, a High switch and an on/off switch; Vitamix's advice is to start on 1, ramp up to 10, then flip to High for smooth blends, and to use the included tamper to keep thick mixtures moving. Vitamix lists a 2-peak-HP motor, laser-cut stainless-steel blades about 3 inches across, a 64 oz BPA-free Tritan container, a 6 ft cord, and a radial cooling fan with thermal protection. Cleaning is a drop of dish soap and warm water blended for 30 to 60 seconds and Vitamix covers it with a 7-year limited warranty. The trade-offs: there are no programs or timer, so you stand by it; and the base with its tall container measures 20.5 in high, which can be too tall for some under-cabinet spaces. On the listing we checked, the featured offer came from a third-party seller, with Amazon.com among the other new offers, so check who you're buying from. We haven't tested it ourselves.

Why PriceDropIQ Selected It

If you blend most days and want a machine built to last, the 5200 gives you full manual control, a large batch container and a 7-year warranty without paying for presets you may never use. It suits smoothie, soup and nut-butter makers who don't mind standing by while it runs. If you only blend the occasional smoothie, the Ninja BL610 costs far less; if your cabinets are low, measure first.
