Klein Tools 11055 Wire Stripper and Cutter
Klein's standard electrician's stripper for 10–18 AWG solid and 12–20 AWG stranded copper wire. It also cuts wire, makes loops and shears 6-32 and 8-32 screws.
Quick verdict
Yes, as a first proper wire stripper for household work. The Klein 11055 strips 10–18 AWG solid and 12–20 AWG stranded copper, covering the 12 and 14 AWG wire behind most outlets and switches, and also cuts wire, bends loops and shears screws. It isn't insulated for live work and won't strip fine 22 AWG or thinner wire.
- Best for:
- Household wiring jobs.
- Watch out:
- Not insulated for live work.

Our Take
The 11055 is the stripper you'll find in most electricians' pouches. Klein rates it for 10–18 AWG solid and 12–20 AWG stranded copper, which covers household circuits and most low-voltage work. The holes are marked for solid and stranded wire, the nose cuts wire and bends loops for screw terminals, and it shears 6-32 and 8-32 screws. It's about 7.4 inches long and made in the USA. It isn't insulated, so it's not for live work; Klein sells an insulated 11055-INS for that. It won't handle 22 AWG and finer, or the thick 6–8 AWG cable on big circuits. We haven't tested it ourselves.

Why PriceDropIQ Selected It
If you're swapping an outlet, a switch or a light fixture, this does the stripping, cutting and loop-bending in one tool, sized for the wire in most homes. It's what many electricians carry. Pick the self-adjusting 11061 if you strip a lot of wire and don't want to choose a hole each time.
Before You Buy
- Check your wire gauge is within 10–18 AWG solid or 12–20 AWG stranded
- Turn the power off at the breaker before working
- Check that the seller is Amazon.com or Klein
