Part of our buying guide: Do You Need a Wi-Fi 7 Router? What to Check Before You Upgrade
Our Take
The Archer BE600 is TP-Link's BE9700 tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router; in stores it's sold as the Archer BE9700, and TP-Link's own BE600 page uses the same specs and product images. TP-Link lists maximum link rates of 5,765 Mbps on 6 GHz, 2,882 Mbps on 5 GHz and 1,032 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, and notes those are physical-layer maximums, not real-world speeds. The wired side is the strong point at this level: one 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port, one 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port, three 2.5 Gbps LAN ports and a USB 3.0 port. Wi-Fi 7 features include Multi-Link Operation (it needs Wi-Fi 7 devices to use it), 4K-QAM and Multi-RUs, plus WPA3, a separate IoT network, EasyMesh compatibility and built-in VPN server and client (OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP, PPTP). Setup runs through TP-Link's Tether app or a web page. TP-Link rates the coverage for three-bedroom houses. In Tom's Guide's review, the BE9700 version was a strong value with good range and throughput, though speeds dipped at middle distances; 3DTested found 6 GHz strong and 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz mid-pack. Things to know: TP-Link says HomeShield's advanced features need a paid subscription (it doesn't spell out which ones are free), the six antennas take up space, and you only get Wi-Fi 7 speeds with Wi-Fi 7 phones and laptops. We haven't tested it ourselves.

Why PriceDropIQ Selected It
If you pay for internet faster than 1 Gbps, or you're adding Wi-Fi 7 phones and laptops, an older router is often the bottleneck. The Archer BE600 gives you a 10 Gbps internet port, four more 2.5 Gbps ports and a 6 GHz band without paying for a top-tier router. It suits a typical three-bedroom home; for a bigger or multi-floor home, a mesh system like the Deco 7 Pro covers more ground, and if your plan is modest, TP-Link's dual-band BE400 costs less. Budget for the HomeShield subscription if you want its advanced features.
Before You Buy
- Check the title says Archer BE600 or BE9700 (TP-Link's BE550 and BE550 Pro are different, older models)
- Check your modem or ONT has a multi-gig port if your plan is above 1 Gbps
- Check that the seller is Amazon.com or TP-Link
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Archer BE600 the same as the Archer BE9700?
TP-Link's BE600 page lists the same BE9700 speeds, the same six external antennas and the same ports as its Archer BE9700 page, and uses the same product images. Tom's Guide calls the BE600 a clone of the BE9700.
Do I need Wi-Fi 7 devices to benefit?
For Wi-Fi 7 speeds and Multi-Link Operation, yes. Older Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 5 devices still connect, and the 10 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps wired ports help regardless of Wi-Fi generation.
Can it work with a mesh system?
TP-Link lists it as EasyMesh-compatible, and notes that mixing brands can fail because of firmware differences.
