Our Take
The Quest 3S is the cheapest way into current standalone VR. It runs on its own, without a PC or console, using the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip with 8 GB of RAM. It has two color cameras for mixed-reality passthrough. Meta lists 1832 × 1920 pixels per eye, a 96° horizontal field of view and about 2.5 hours of battery on average. It weighs about 513 g. Storage is 128 GB or 256 GB. This Amazon listing bundles in-game Gorilla Tag items and a trial subscription. The trade-offs versus the Quest 3: Meta's comparison shows lower resolution and different lenses on the 3S, and 2.5 hours is short for long sessions. It also needs a Meta account. We haven't tested it ourselves. Choose it to try VR fitness, games and mixed reality without spending Quest 3 money.

Why PriceDropIQ Selected It
It's the lowest-cost way to try current VR, with no PC, console or wires needed. It has the same processor as the more expensive Quest 3, so games and fitness apps run the same. You give up some sharpness and battery life, which is a fair trade for a first headset.
