Jetboil Flash 1.0L Cooking System

An integrated backpacking stove and 1-liter insulated pot that boils water fast for freeze-dried meals and coffee. It's for boiling, not real cooking.

Quick verdict

Yes, if you mainly boil water for freeze-dried meals, coffee and tea outdoors. The Jetboil Flash is an integrated stove and 1-liter insulated pot built to boil water fast. It doesn't simmer, it's a three-season stove, and the pot is small for groups, so pick a different stove for real cooking.

Best for:
Fast boiling on the trail.
Watch out:
No simmer control.

Our Take

The Jetboil Flash is the classic fast-boil system for backpackers and campers. The burner locks onto a 1-liter insulated cup, and everything, including a 100 g fuel canister, packs inside. Jetboil lists a boil time of about 2 minutes per half-liter, averaged over the life of a canister. The current listing adds a turn-and-click igniter, a three-point locking system and cool-touch grip zones. Jetboil lists the system at about 13 oz (371 g). The trade-offs: there's no simmer control, so it's for boiling water rather than cooking, and Jetboil classes it as a three-season stove, so cold weather slows it. Fuel is sold separately. We haven't tested it ourselves. Choose it if your camp meals are freeze-dried food, oats and coffee. Choose a regulated stove such as Jetboil's MiniMo if you want to simmer.

Why PriceDropIQ Selected It

If your trail meals are freeze-dried food, oats and coffee, a fast-boil system is quicker and simpler than a separate stove and pot. The Flash packs everything into one cup and boils fast, with a built-in igniter. If you want to simmer and cook real meals, the MiniMo is better.
