Our Take

The Arizona is the two-strap sandal that made Birkenstock famous, and the Soft Footbed version adds extra cushioning for a gentler feel. Birkenstock describes a cork-latex footbed with an integrated foam cushion, a suede lining, a Birko-Flor upper (a tough synthetic that wipes clean) and a lightweight EVA sole. The contoured footbed is shaped to support the arch. Fit is the thing to get right: Birkenstock sizes in European sizes and offers regular and narrow widths, depending on the color. The footbed isn't waterproof, so don't soak it. We haven't tested them ourselves. On Amazon, the buy box was a third-party seller when we checked, with Amazon.com among the new offers; colors and sizes vary by seller.
